Yorkshire trio The Black Dog have announced their next album, Tranklements.

The veteran outfit revealed the plans on their official website. In a statement, the trio admitted that they've "always felt like the awkward outsiders," but credited Sheffield collective Electronic Supper Club with helping them "reconnect with many things and each other." They added: "The real underground is still as vibrant as ever, not lost to false values, over-sized egos and ladder climbing brands. We've always respected that energy and individuality that exists beyond the bland compliant mainstream."

Tranklements, which is set for release on Dust Science Recordings, is described by the trio as a "body of work created as 16 unique and individual tracks." The album will be preceded by a series of four EPs called Darkhaus. The first Darkhaus 12-inch will be released through Ostgut Ton's Unterton sublabel on March 25th, with two original tracks and an LB Dub Corp (AKA Luke Slater) remix: this will be followed by another EP featuring a remix from another doyen of UK techno, Regis. None of the material featuring on the Darkhaus 12-inches will appear on Tranklements, whose 11 tracks are interspersed by "bolts," which The Black Dog describe as "small bits of music that help or disrupt the transition between tracks."

Tracklist
Darkhaus Vol. 01
A1 Council Flat Emptiness (stripped)
A2 Council Flat Emptiness
B Council Flat Emptiness (L.B. Dub Corp Remix)

Tranklements

07. Internal Collapse
08. First Cut

Dust Science will release The Black Dog's Tranklements on May 20th, 2013. Unterton will release Darkhaus Vol. 01 on March 25th, 2013.

2 hrs 38 mins agoI have been a long time fan, i got into them at the time of spanners. Lost them a bit, got back to them, and this a few times. A mate got me me in touch with this new album. For me this is kind of old school 'artificial intelligence' stuff but with a fresh modern touch, without, as the review stated, wanting to catch up with the zeitgeist as such. So, top one for me.

5 hrs 26 mins agoI didn't mean literally 'taking tips'. It just sounds very au fait with that sound. It was meant as far from an insult. It's one of the stand-out tracks for me.

I like the reference to Spanners past.

I'm a bit late to the party on this one but hoping to give it some love soon.
