  • San Francisco club 222 Hyde will close on March 9th. According to the San Francisco Bay Guardian, the club's shutting comes in anticipation of a change in ownership for the building which houses the basement venue. In a letter from owner EO, he claims that the "new owners would not be sympathetic to the club or [its] operations," and also cites ongoing issues with the local Alcoholic Beverage Control board over a "technicality concerning a condition on the license" in his decision to close 222 Hyde. The nightclub's final week will feature the likes of Mossmoss, Lovelife's Jon Dadon and San Proper before the closing party on the 9th. Formerly scheduled as a Modocrecords event, the lineup for that one is still in the works, though EO promises local artists Jeno, Atish, Sleazemore and Polk & Hyde will all perform. 222 Hyde had just last year undergone renovations to make it safer and increase its legal capacity. It has been home to many local nights at one time or another, including Hidden Measure, As You Like It, Lights Down Low, We Are Monsters and others. The address itself is loaded with history in San Francisco's nightlife, having been open as a bar and entertainment venue in various forms dating all the way back to the 1940s. EO has said he will use the club's closure as an opportunity to focus on his own music as Polk & Hyde.
