- The UK producer has released his debut album for free.
Artifact has released an album called Cologne Tracks through Local Action.
The 11-track selection, which was made available via Local Action's Bandcamp page this week on a pay-what-you-like basis, is described by the label as "a retrospective of Artifact's time in [Cologne] rather than a debut album proper." Originally recorded under an alias, the tracks were made during the producer's time in Germany during 2011 and 2012. There are strong stylistic nods to juke throughout the album, with frenetic rhythms, vocal snippets and pounding drums—the producer himself described his output from this period as a blend of "skippy vocals, dark, filtered stabs, and triplet beats." He added: "When I was in Germany, I developed a sound that I really feel is my music." Cologne Tracks is the producer's second appearance on Local Action, following last year's Worn/Drain/Turtle Fight 12-inch.
