- The Joel Brindefalk-produced cassette, originally released by Börft Records in 1992, will see release on vinyl this June.
Digitalis Recordings will reissue the Börft Records cassette Great Dose Of Monotonous Techno on vinyl in June.
The cassette was the work of the late Joel Brindefalk, who appeared regularly on the Frak-helmed Börft and their UFO Mongo sublabel under names like Egglady, Pissfuckhead and Sort Joey. For 1992's Great Dose Of Monotonous Techno, he was Ü, an alias he would use for a half-dozen Börft cassettes and 12-inches throughout the '90s. The vinyl version of the tape, remastered by Brindefalk's friend Andreas Tilliander (AKA Mokira), is comprised of edits Brindefalk made of the original material before his death last month.
For their reissue, Digitalis has tried to maintain the vibe of the original cassette, converting the artwork to the dimensions of vinyl packaging and including Brindefalk's original liner notes. As Great Dose's parentage and cheeky title suggest, the sound veers toward noisy techno a la Container and Pete Swanson, albeit recorded 20 years before the style's recent resurgence. For an idea of what to expect, you can listen to a snippet from the album on the Digitalis SoundCloud page.
