Full details of the keenly awaited follow-up to 2010's Crooks & Lovers have been revealed.
Mount Kimbie's second album, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth, will see release on May 28th through Warp Records.
News of a second full-length from Dominic Maker and Kai Campos had already filtered through last year, but until now details were sparse. The follow-up to 2010's Crooks & Lovers features two vocal appearances from teenage singer-songwriter King Krule, while Maker and Campos also lend their own vocals to some tracks. According to a press release, the new album saw them make the transition from a bedroom studio to a professional set-up, incorporating new instruments along the way.
The pair have strongly hinted that Cold Spring Fault Less Youth will showcase a new sonic direction. "Two years is a long time," says Dominic. "Tastes change, what you want out of your life changes, and so on. Naturally, how we want to sound has changed too." Album track "Made To Stray," which was premiered on Ben UFO's Rinse FM show earlier this month, certainly suggests this is the case, with a dubby house beat sitting beneath the duo's vocals. You can listen to it in full via the YouTube player below, and download it from the Mount Kimbie website in return for your email address.
The duo will embark on an extensive tour of the US, Canada and Europe to help promote the album, beginning with a show at Berghain in Berlin on May 2nd.
