- The Groove Armada man will trawl through 20 years of recordings for his first solo LP, due out later this month.
Andy Cato will drop Times & Places on April 29th.
Cato's history in dance music goes deep, from his work as a UK rave promoter in the '90s, through to his lengthy discography as one half of house group Groove Armada. R&S sub-label Apollo will release the album, a collection of recordings that stretch back as far as 20 years. Tracks on Times & Places were recorded on "tour buses, in airport lounges and beyond" according to the press release, and document "those long moments in between gigs, where a four-track, computer or piano was to hand."
According to Cato himself, the idea for the collection came in 2011 at "daybreak in an East Euoropean republic on top of a Greek temple," inspiring him to create an audio diary of his life in music. The LP will be accompanied by an exhibit showcasing short films and photography" related to the album, at London's Book Club, starting on April 25th and running until late June.
