- The Chicago duo will release their debut album in June.
The-Drum will drop Contact on June 25th.
The duo work in a similar vein to their fellow Chicagoans Supreme Cuts—hazy, synth-heavy hip-hop beats. Contact follows a handful of releases last year, including an EP on ????? and a split cassette with another Chicago producer, Sich Mang. The LP will come through Audraglint, the Portland-based record label that released another EP of theirs last year.
Contact is based on their own science-fiction inspired concept. As the group themselves explain, "basically, the album exists in a universe in which there is a multinational conglomerate. That company is called Sense Net and it is part pharmaceutical company and part hardware/software developer... their services are something along the lines of isolation tanks with audio, visual, and chemical elements to give the user various sensations and experiences based on the 'programs' they have selected."
They look beyond just hip-hop for the record, taking in footwork and R&B influences as well. The last four tracks on Contact make up a bonus EP called THE SENSE NET™ PROGRAMS.
