- The influential artist's reworks of Suns Of Arqa will be released in June.
Emotional Rescue will reissue a collection of Muslimgauze remixes this June.
Bryn Jones, AKA Muslimgauze, developed a devoted following for his dubby, polyrhythmic tracks that drew inspiration from Middle Eastern music and culture, with a particular focus on the crisis in Palestine. He was incredibly prolific, putting out well over 100 albums and EPs throughout his career. Although he died in 1999, his influence continues to linger in the work of artists like Demdike Stare, Vatican Shadow and Shackleton, who played at a Muslimgauze tribute night in Leeds last November.
First released in 1996 on CD, Suns Of Arqa—Muslimgauze Re-Mixs features 13 of Jones's reworkings of the experimental dub outfit headed up by Michael Wadada. The album will come through London-based reissue label Emotional Rescue. It will be the first time the material is released on vinyl. For an idea of what to expect, you can stream clips of all 13 tracks over at the label's SoundCloud page.
