The former Bar 25 resident will release an album through Cocoon later this month.
Matt John will release his third album, The Keys, through Cocoon Recordings in May.
The LP arrives two years on from the Berlin-based producer's two previous full-lengths, The Bridge and Potpourri, both of which were relased in 2011 (the former was praised in an RA review for its "singular weirdness"). Since those LPs he's been pretty quiet on the release front, save for one EP, Flying Shoes, which came out on Sleep Is Commercial last year. John is perhaps best known for his stint as resident DJ at famed (and now closed) Berlin club Bar 25, as well as a stream of 12-inches for labels like Perlon and his own Holographic Island imprint. A press release suggests that The Keys takes its stylistic cues from early Warp releases and bleep techno, citing acts such as Sweet Exorcist and A Certain Ratio as touchstones.
