  • Absurd Recordings will create its latest offshoot next month with an EP from Joey Anderson. The LA-based imprint is perhaps best known for its Acid Test series, which invites producers to experiment with the distinctively squelchy sounds of the 303 in unique or different ways. That group of releases has yielded 12-inches from Pepe Bradock, Donato Dozzy and Iron Curtis' Achterbahn D'Amour alias, as well as full-lengths from Recondite and Tin Man. The series was also the subject of one of our Label of the Month features last year. Avenue 66 is reserved for what label boss Oliver Bristow calls "weird, left-of-centre house and techno." The first release, from New York's Joey Anderson and vocalist Ebony Ugo, lives up to this ethos, with two tracks of dubbed-out, non-linear techno along with a remix from Ukrainian oddball Vakula. Tracklist 01. Above The Cherry Moon 02. Above The Cherry Moon (Vakula Remix) 03. Auset Avenue 66 will release Above The Cherry Moon in June 2013.
