  • The Playground Festival, originally scheduled for June 7th through 9th at the Brixton Academy in London, has been cancelled. As reported earlier this year, this year's Playground Festival was set to feature acts like Juan Atkins' Model 500 project, Pantha Du Prince, Boddika and Nathan Fake. Unfortunately, things didn't entirely pan out for the promoters this year. According to a statement published on FACT today, "poor ticket sales and an investor parting ways with us" forced them to pull the plug. They've also "been left with no option but to file for insolvency moving forward." If you're a ticketholder, the promoters promise that "tickets bought from Ticketweb, Resident Advisor, See Tickets, Skiddle, Stargreen, Wegottickets, Fatsoma, Artist Ticket, Groupon will be refunded immediately. A limited Number of Trackitdown tickets should be refunded immediately as they are holding a portion of the funds here." The statement makes reference to the event being rescheduled for July 13th at KOKO, with more information about that forthcoming.
