  • Native Instruments has unveiled Kontrol Z1, a new mixer and audio interface for their Traktor line of DJ software. They're billing it as "the world's smallest professional mixer and audio interface." Appropriately, it's made to work with Traktor DJ, NI's iOS DJ software, providing tablet and phone users with faders, filters, three-band EQ, headphone cueing and a club-level output. On the latter point, the Z1 features a 24-bit soundcard, which should bring users a marked improvement in audio quality over their headphone jacks. The unit will even keep your iOS device charged while it's plugged in. Laptop users running Traktor Pro 2 will also be able to use the Z1 in lieu of the larger Z2. No word yet on when it's due in the shops, but in the meantime, you can see it in action in the video below.
Native Instruments will release Kontrol Z1 for a suggested retail price of $199 or 199 Euro.
