  • Berlin nightclub Festsaal Kreuzberg was seriously damaged in a fire on Saturday night. According to Berliner Morgenpost, the fire began at 9 PM on Saturday (before the venue opened) and blazed on until 6:30 AM on Sunday, when firefighters were finally able to extinguish it. A statement from the club says that no one was seriously harmed, though one employee was "slightly injured." The full extent of the wreckage is not yet known, but the club's dark wooden interior is likely to be completely destroyed. The freelance photography website Demotix has pictures of the aftermath. Festsaal Kreuzberg is a ballroom-style venue in one of the liveliest areas of the city, just between Kotbusser Tor and Görlitzer Park. It's held countless house and techno parties over the years, including annual appearances from Theo Parrish, but also hosts concerts and all sorts of other events. There's no word yet on when or if the club will reopen.
