- The Portland producer will release his second album on Rwina next month.
EPROM will drop Halflife on October 14th.
The Portland-based artist has been battering systems with his bottom-heavy dubstep hip-hop hybrids since 2007, and though he's appeared on Leisure System, Warp and other labels, it's the grime-leaning Dutch imprint Rwina Records that he's made his home. They released his debut LP, Metahuman, last year, which we said showed a "striking command of style and sound design" in our review of the record.
Halflife looks to continue down that road, with a press release calling it "a minimalist blend of rhythmic alchemy." The album's style was reportedly influenced by African rhythms like shangaan and kwaito, southern rap (as usual) and more abstract works from the likes of Richard Devine. The artwork comes from famed 3D artist David O'Reilly.
