  • Blisspop will celebrate its 13th birthday this Saturday in Washington DC. Since launching at the now closed Metro Cafe in 2000, the Bliss series has held residencies at Black Cat and the 9:30 Club. Now it finds itself home at the U Street Music Hall. The promoter describes its ethos as an "open-format forward thinking sound" with a "no attitude, no bullshit party policy." The anniversary shindig has an appropriately multi-genre lineup, headlined by the bass-heavy Dirtybird house of Worthy. Fade To Mind boss Kingdom will spin back-to-back with Night Slugs founder Bok Bok, offering up a more grime and R&B-indebted sound, along with Huntington Beach's Charles Feelgood. DC local Will Eastman rounds off the lineup—the show will double as the release party for his new EP on the Main Course label.
