  • Lee Bannon will release his debut Ninja Tune album on December 9th. NYC-based Bannon got his start via hip-hop production, notably crafting beats for Joey Bada$$ and the Pro Era crew. But the American artist always had a wider idea of what he could get away with when it comes to hip-hop production compared to some of his peers, earning praise for his atmospheric and unusual sounds, particularly 2012's Fantastic Plastic LP, which landed on Plug Research. Now, armed with a newfound interest in jungle and drum & bass (reportedly fuelled by his childhood in Sacramento as much as new music from artists like Machinedrum), he's signed to Ninja Tune and crafted an album of "immersive atmospherics, deep bass and funk-ridden drums," according to the press release. Alternate / Endings was crafted over a meticulous six months rather than Bannon's usual quick working method. As a taster of sorts, earlier this month Bannon offered up the Place/Crusher EP as a free download (which you can also purchase if you like). You can also stream first single "216" here.
