- The new label is a collaboration between Firecracker's Lindsay Todd and Stuart Leath of Emotional Response.
Sacred Summits, a new label devoted to "unearthing the best and weirdest" music, will launch next month.
Sacred Summits is a joint venture between Firecracker founder Lindsay Todd and Stuart Leath, who also runs the labels Emotional Response and Rescue. Its MO will be to dust off strange records and reissue them in deluxe packaging—"be it cave-dwelling, tree-dwelling or synth-dwelling sounds." The focus won't just be on reissues though—Leath told RA that there were plans to release original recordings too. The first release features material by Mexican musician Luis Pérez, whose collection of native instruments features "archaeological artefacts representative of the different cultural groups in the area known as Mesoamerica, some dating more than 2000 years ago." You can listen to clips of all four tracks from the debut LP, Ipan In Xiktli Metztli, over at the label's SoundCloud page.
