  • Chicago institution Kranky has a series of 20th anniversary events scheduled in the Windy City this week. The label will celebrate two decades of experimentally laced rock, ambient and electronic music with four shows, featuring thirteen acts in all, at three venues. First up this Thursday is a night at Empty Bottle with Lichens and the bands Disappears and Implodes. Friday and Saturday will see the celebration move a couple miles north to Constellation (a relatively new spot, founded in April of this year)—Grouper, Benoît Pioulard, Christopher Bissonnette and Justin Walter are billed for Friday night, and Saturday's show will feature Tim Hecker, whose latest LP for Kranky, Virgins, was well-received here on RA, along with Pan•American, Keith Fullerton Whitman and Implodes' guitarist Ken Camden. Finally, the series winds down on Sunday in Lincoln Park at Lincoln Hall with sets from Stars Of The Lid (backed by the Wordless Music Orchestra) and Loscil.
