- Andy Stott and Miles Whittaker will release their first album as a duo next month.
The debut Millie & Andrea album is due out on Modern Love in March.
Millie & Andrea is the production pairing of Andy Stott and Demdike Stare's Miles Whittaker. Together they put out a series of 12-inches for Modern Love sublabel Daphne between 2008 and 2010 that explored the outer realms of experimental dubstep. Though the pseudonym has remained silent for four years, next month they'll return with Drop The Vowels, a full-length that's "borne from a love of both pop and club music," according to Modern Love.
The album was produced in 2013 and 2014, and stylistically measures up to artists as diverse as Anthony 'Shake' Shakir, Jai Paul, Aphex Twin and Leila. There are nods to genres like gamelan, rave and jungle, with a couple of previously released cuts, "Temper Tantrum" and “Spectral Source," both featuring. The album's closer, "Quay," is made up entirely of field recordings.
