- The former Hype Williams artist's debut album features a collaboration with Actress.
Former Hype Williams artist copeland will release her debut album, Because I'm Worth It, this May.
To date the artistic output of copeland, also known as Inga Copeland, has been hard to pin down: she's best known for her work as one half of Hype Williams alongside Dean Blunt, though that partnership ended last August, when a statement appeared on copeland's SoundCloud page stating that they were "no longer affiliated." She's put out a couple of solo records as Inga Copeland, and has appeared on records from The Bug and DVA. She's also slated to appear on Martyn's forthcoming album, but before then she'll self-release her own debut LP.
There's not much information on what Because I'm Worth It will sound like, but we do know that one track, "advice to young girls," is a collaborative effort with fellow leftfield artist Actress, who also plays keyboard on album closer "l'oreal." A press release contains what appears to be a lyric from on of the tracks:
"spill a tear and then you cry for ldn
is it the kinda place you’d die for?
how does it feel to be lied to?
but then again what’s a girl to do?"
