- The Z Records boss has curated a wide array of Italian cuts from the late '80s and early '90s, to be released on double-CD and vinyl this May.
Joey Negro will release a new compilation, Italo House, through his own Z Records this May.
The veteran DJ and dance music aficionado has pinpointed a particular era in Italian dance music, when the influences of English electronic sounds, the deeper shades of Chicago house and New York garage coalesced into something entirely its own. While some of the music of this era was quite popular, Negro says he's showcasing the deeper, more underground side of things here, which didn't gain as much traction commercially (and which he says hasn't been given this sort of retrospective treatment before). The full selection of 24 tunes will be available as a two-CD set and digital download. There will also be two separate double-vinyl gatefold releases.
