Mark Barrott has revealed details of his debut album, Sketches From An Island.
Recorded in Ibiza's hills using "weird percussion, some slide guitars and a few borrowed synths," Barrott says the album is inspired by "those weird, unique little oddities that would turn up on early José Padilla mix tapes that he'd sell in the Las Dalias hippy market, before he even went to the Café Del Mar." He adds: "It’s influenced by living in Ibiza year-round, and by the feeling of what I think Balearic sounds like."
Having moved to Ibiza a couple of years back, Barrott has continued to rep the Balearic style he's associated with, putting out a couple of records as The Sonic Aesthetic. Sketches From An Island will come out on his own International Feel label, and follows the Sketches 1 12-inch, which sold out in a couple of hours.
