  • Germany's BMG have bought the Brighton-based Skint and Loaded labels. Loaded was found by JC Reid and Tim Jeffrey in 1990. Damien Harris joined five years later to set up sister label Skint, which has served as the primary outlet for Fatboy Slim material down the years. The deal gives BMG worldwide rights (excluding the US) to five Fatboy Slim albums, including 1998's You've Come a Long Way Baby, as well as music by X-Press 2, Dave Clarke, FreQ Nasty and Midfield General and others. "Skint and Loaded are among the most influential and successful UK independent labels and we are delighted to add them to our growing international catalogue of recordings," says BMG's Alexi Cory-Smith. "There is significant potential in particular in the peerless Fatboy Slim catalogue and we will ensure it gets the attention it deserves." Loaded and Skint's JC Reid added: "The acquisition by BMG will secure the continuing success of the catalogues of which we're very proud." In recent times BMG has also purchased the catalogues of other labels and publishers like Strictly Rhythm and Talpa Music.
