  • Motor City mainstay Mike Huckaby will visit Oakland this Saturday to headline The Shuffle Co-Op's first party. The collective describes itself as "a group of friends and family who are dance music fans who want to offer up what we think is great music in friendly settings." As the name might imply, it'll be a "party for the crowd" (none in the group are DJs) with a program focusing on house and techno. This first gig will feature OPUS sound, and run from 10 PM to 6 AM, with Brooklyn DJ Maroje T and Patrick Gil, a member of another Bay Area crew, Direct To Earth, also taking to the decks. The group describes the venue as "an old boat repair warehouse with roughly 25 foot-tall ceilings"—exact details will be announced the day of. The Shuffle Co-Op plan on throwing main events once a month, with informal gatherings happening in between. Their next big one, at the same location as this weekend's party, will happen on Saturday, May 10th, and the headliner for that one should be confirmed shortly. For now, tickets to this weekend's inaugural soirée are available here on RA.
