  • DEMF and FEMT will not go ahead as planned this July, and have been postponed until 2015. Last year the long dormant Detroit Electronic Music Festival run by Carol Marvin—not to be confused with Paxahau's Movement, which is now a separate entity and takes place over the May long weekend—announced it would take place for the first time since 2006. DEMF was set to be a free event in Campius Martius park on July 4th, while FEMT would be a bigger ticketed stadium-sized festival happening at Ford Field over the same weekend. Cybotron were due to perform their first-ever live set, and Model 500 and Underground Resistance were reportedly booked as well. Citing problems with planning due to rail construction near the park as well as "a number of exciting festival developments that require more time to ensure their proper presentation," both events have been delayed until July 2015. Those that purchased tickets for FEMT can either hold on to them for next year or request a refund, and ticketholders are encouraged to send the organizers a Facebook message to receive a "special gift" as thanks for supporting the effort. You can view the statement in its entirety at the DEMF website.
