The San Francisco label will release two LPs in May, including one from Alden Tyrell's band.
Dark Entries has announced its next two albums, and both are out on May 26th.
The San Francisco imprint is best known for its reissue work (including its new dance-oriented Editions series), but they've been dipping their toes into contemporary material recently—take the debut LP from Cute Heels, for example. These next two continue the trend, with new records from Sumerian Fleet and REDREDRED.
First up is the former, a Dutch group that counts Alden Tyrell among its ranks alongside Mr. Pauli and vocalist Zarkoff. So far they've had two releases—on Clone and Crème Organization—and Just Pressure will be their first full-length, comprising music recorded in the past year alongside a newly remixed version of the title track (which dates back to 2012). The label describes the album as "80s darkwave and EBM inspired tracks with an industrial tinge," making heavy use of a bass guitar, plus the Linn drum machine, Roland TR-808 and other classic hardware usually associated with '80s electro. Ever the sticklers for intricate packaging, Dark Entries will house each record in custom jackets "incorporating Mesopotamian pyramids and occult symbols, offset printed with gold ink."
REDREDRED, meanwhile, is the project of SF artist Michael Wood, who used to be part of a duo called Primary Colors. Pattern Completion—another album that takes its cues from classic industrial music like Front 242 and Throbbing Gristle—was supposed to be a four-track cassette that was only ever released digitally, according to the label. Now it's being presented with those original tracks and four new ones.
