Ezekiel Honig has written a book called Bumping Into A Chair While Humming that's due out in early June.
For a little over a decade now, the NYC native has been crafting warm, minimal electro-acoustic music that's often released through his own labels, Anticipate and Microcosm. (His 2008 LP Surfaces Of A Broken Marching Band on Anticpate earned a 4.5/5 review here as well as a spot on our top albums list for that year.) His next endeavor, aided by a successful crowd-funding initiative, is a book. It's described as "a culmination of years of writing shorter pieces, teaching, and thinking about listening and the layers of choices required in the creative process." In it, Honig will touch upon his own approaches to production, but overall it'll be "more focused on the practice of listening itself, and how that benefits one's art, and life in general."
The book will come in a first edition limited to 300 copies, with a cover that's letter pressed on textured, handmade paper, and the text itself will feature illustrations from Asli Senel Smith. Copies will be made available on Honig's website as well as on Amazon and a handful of independent book shops. Its release will coincide with the start of the next session of Honig's online class, Personal Sound Concepts.
