  • Animals Dancing, one of Melbourne's leading club nights, will launch its own label in June. The first release is an in-house affair, with two of the party's residents, Lewis Day (AKA Tornado Wallace) and William Paxton, AKA Otologic's Tom Moore, teaming up as Coober Pedy University Band. The pair already have one record under that name—last year's Moon Plain EP for Soft Rocks' Kinfolk—and, judging by the clips on Juno, the record samples two uniquely Australian sounds: the 'laughing' call of the Kookaburra and a didgeridoo. Animals Dancing parties generally take place at Melbourne's Mercat Basement, with a broad music focus that revolves around its core of residents—Tornado Wallace, Otologic and Andee Frost—and international guests (recent headliners include Young Marco, Hunee, Prins Thomas, Moritz von Oswald and Hieroglyphic Being). Their next party will go down on Friday, May 16th, with Sex Tags Mania co-founder DJ Sotofett. Tracklist 01. Kookaburra 02. Kookapella Animals Dancing will release Kookaburra on June 16th, 2014.
