  • The Soft Pink Truth's latest album, Why Do The Heathen Rage?, is out on Thrill Jockey next month. The solo project from Drew Daniels of Matmos has long put concept front-and-center in his work, and Why Do The Heathen Rage? is no different. This time, Daniels has taken a clutch of classic black metal cuts from artists like Venom, Darkthrone and Mayhem and reworked them as club jams. Thrill Jockey says the record was conceptualized "as a queer critique of the oftentimes extreme right-wing of the black, [as well] as a homage to musicians [Daniels] has idolized for years." Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak and Antony from Antony & The Johnsons are some of the artists putting in guest appearances. You can listen to "Black Metal" below:
