  • SND will reissue their very release, 1998's Tplay, on June 30th. Mark Fell and Mat Steel have become pillars of the UK experimental scene thanks to their music together as SND. Their early work used algorithms and generative processes to blend techno, IDM and glitch. After a brief surge in activity in the late 2000s, and with Fell's solo career blossoming especially (including his house-oriented Sensate Focus project), they're now looking back on their origins with a series of remasters which will begin with Tplay. Said to bridge "the reductionism of Ikeda and the swing of early UKG," the record established the duo as arbiters of an ultra-minimalist sound at a time when minimalism was gaining ground in dance music. This will be the first pressing of the record in more than 15 years, and it comes with five bonus tracks of material from the same session, though the tracklist only mentions side-long pieces. The duo's subsequent singles Travelog and Newtables are also set for a reissue in the near future. Tracklist A1 Side 1 B1 SIde 2 C1 Side 3 D1 Side 4 SND will release Tplay on June 30th, 2014.
