Patrons at a Sydney nightclub were given a scare last night as the second-story dance floor of the Stonewall club collapsed. At about 5:15am, the ceiling to the ground floor came crashing down around those partying underneath. 16 people were trapped underneath the rubble, some for as long as 20minutes. Emergency crews arrived on the scene to secure the site whilst Structural engineers assessed the damage.
In all 18 people were taken to hospital, it is however reported that none have sustained serious injuries. Workcover has since imposed a 48-hour closer of the venue to allow police to investigate what caused the collapse.
