  • Raster-Noton has revealed details for a record from Ueno Masaaki. Vortices is the first studio EP from Masaaki, a Japanese artist who has been involved in a handful of projects including music for fashion shows and television as well as larger-scale concerts. Over the past year or so he's also taken on the name OPROJEKT—you can hear a couple of his pieces for piano over at his SoundCloud page. This release, the seventh on Raster-Noton's nine-part Unun series (which has also featured the likes of Mika Vainio and Emptyset), looks like it'll be a to-the-point affair, with four tracks each measuring under four minutes in length. And, if the first preview on YouTube is any indicator, it should fit right in with the cerebral and often confrontational sounds that are the norm for the label.
