  • Birmingham party Atomic Jam will return from a two-year break on Friday, November 14th. Atomic Jam is one of the UK's longest-running techno nights, and its comeback party will serve as a 19th anniversary celebration. The lineup features Dave Clarke, Ø [Phase] and longtime Atomic Jam resident Chris Finke, who will play as He/aT, his previously anonymous alias. Rounding out the bill is new Atomic Jam resident Stephanie Sykes. The event will happen at Next Door, starting at 10:30 PM and running through until 6 AM. We caught up with He/aT this week via email to find out more:
Why have you decided to resurrect Atomic Jam? Well we never actually finished. After our last event we just decided to take a reflective break which turned into two years. Now we're collectively ready and refocused and want to do something a bit different to the infrequent, large-scale events we'd been doing previously. We were feeling a different vibe: smaller, more involved, more often, less artists, longer sets. In Next Door we have found the perfect venue. Techno in general has really flourished over the last few years and we want to try and continue to represent and be part of that in Birmingham. What can we expect from the party in terms of lineups? And how regular will the events be? The first one this November will be our 19th birthday! We are currently are planning five or six parties in 2015 but we are consciously approaching next year's events as if they were our first. Most of next year's guests have never played Atomic Jam before, and quite a few have never actually played in Birmingham before, which is really exciting for us and hopefully for people in Birmingham too. And joining me as second resident we have Stephanie Sykes, who is the perfect fit for us. You're the person behind He/aT. Have you got more records under that name in the pipeline? Yes, I have two new He/aT label EPs ready to go, and I recently decided to work with a couple of other labels and have EPs dropping on those too (I can't say who right now!). As with Atomic Jam, it was time for me to freshen things up so I've been doing the project anonymously for a year, played my first ever live show at Berghain, and I'm really excited to be able to drop the news that it's me behind it. 2015 should be interesting.
