  • The next Roland AIRA PLUG-OUT synth has been released. As reported last week, it's a high-tech digital recreation of the company's 1979 classic SH-2, a two-oscillator (plus sub-oscillator) monosynth known for its fat sound. According to Roland, all of the details—from the VCF capable of self-oscillation to the way the pitch wavers—have been worked into this version by way of their Analog Circuit Behavior digital modeling technique. As with their first PLUG-OUT, which was based on the SH-101 synth, the SH-2 is essentially a plug-in made to work with the AIRA SYSTEM-1 synth—users of that keyboard get deep control over the synth, whether it's working as a standard plug-in within a DAW or loaded directly onto the SYSTEM-1. You can watch Roland's teaser video for the SH-2 below.
