  • Bay Area institution Icee Hot has announced they will be folding their event series and label with three parties and a split EP from Vin Sol and Matrixxmann. Icee Hot's principals have given a brief rundown of the organization's vitals: "After five years of running Icee Hot as a party and a label, we have decided to move on into new directions. As Icee Hot, we have thrown about 70 parties and hosted something like 110 guests from all over the world. We have also put out nine records that have given us the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best musicians out there. Throughout this experience, we have developed both musically and personally, all while remaining completely ineffective and unprofitable as businessmen." Financial success aside, they've managed to bring in a wide-range of talent for their San Francisco debuts. Early bookings leaned heavy on UK-based acts like Ben UFO and Ikonika. Recently, they've explored the North American underground, presenting Hieroglyphic Being, Seven Davis Jr., Galcher Lustwerk and many more. The crew will host D'Marc Cantu and Hashman Deejay on October 4th and are also planning a December 6th event. In January, they'll throw a 28-hour marathon to send things off. While the club night is headlined by talent from elsewhere, the label has focused on the local scene, having released music by Avalon Emerson, Bobby B and Ghosts On Tape. Fittingly, its 10th and final release will be a split from Matrixxman and Vin Sol. The artists share studio space and operate Soo Wavey together. More details on the release and final bookings are forthcoming. You can stream Icee Hot's second-to-last release, a two-tracker from Roche, below.
