  • LA's Not Not Fun will tick off the 300th release milestone with Profligate's Finding The Floor in November. The label is owned and operated by Amanda and Britt Brown, both of whom play in retro-tinged house act LA Vampires (a mainstay of their dance-focused sister label 100% Silk). NNF has been in operation for just over 10 years. In that period, the imprint has issued singles, compilations, CD-Rs and a great number of vinyl records and cassettes (the founding duo was early on the revival of the latter format). Examined more closely, Not Not Fun has documented the US underground's transformation from more the more freeform emanations of groups like Magick Markers and Yellow Swans to the lo-fi, beat-driven electronics of acts like Profligate. Profligate is the latest project from Philly experimentalist Noah Anthony, and has him exploring techno influences within a post-punk songwriting framework. The upcoming LP contains an alternate version of the track "Can't Stop Shaking," a single recently reviewed positively on RA. Check out the clip for "Laughing Song" off the upcoming album below.
