  • A live performance from Ryuichi Sakamoto, Taylor Deupree and Illuha will be released on 12k later this month. The concert went down in summer 2013 as part of the Yamaguchi Center For Arts And Media's tenth anniversary celebrations (which also hosted an installation from Sakamoto called Forest Symphony). The improvised performance for piano, organ, synthesizer and guitar was the first time that the veteran Japanese experimental musician, Tokyo duo Illuha and 12k boss Deupree had played together. According to the label, the three-movement album Perpetual was named "for the eternal and ageless quality of the music" which "[traverses] from soft layers of synthesizer and processed guitar to open, airy sections of prepared piano and silence." Perpetual is one of the few recordings to emerge after Sakamoto's throat cancer diagnosis last July. The CDs will ship on January 20th and downloads will become available on the 27th. You can stream the third movement below.
