  • Ableton have introduced a new modular synthesis device for Max For Live. It's called OSCiLLOT, and it was developed by Max For Cats, who have released a number of bits for Ableton's device creation platform. At its core, OSCiLLOT is a collection of over 100 modules—like oscillators, mixers and filters—that can be freely interconnected to create custom synth patches. You can start from scratch or begin with a preset; 79 of them are included. (Those who want to get extra custom can even edit modules in Max/MSP, or have OSCiLLOT patches interact with a hardware setup.) And unlike most analog modular systems, this digital one is polyphonic, with up to six voices possible. The video below should give you a sense of what it's capable of.
OSCiLLOT is now available from Ableton for 79 Euro.
