  • Sankeys owner David Vincent is writing an autobiography called The Eccentric: David Vincent's Life Story. According to a Facebook post on February 13th, Vincent has so far determined the chapters for his book—these include "Madchester University," "The Ministry Of Pound," "The Break Up Of Soap" and "A Close Shave"—and now has to "write the crazy stories on each chapter." He adds: "I am determined to write this as quickly, passionately and as truthful as possible. This book has been the most mind releasing thing I have ever done in my life. Imagine Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels meets 24 Hour Party People mixed with an Alfred Hitchcock ending and you have my life story. I really cannot wait to let you all read this as it is crazy stuff." According to Mixmag, Vincent began work on the book while hospitalised in Ibiza following an operation to have his appendix removed. Under Vincent's control, Sankeys has grown from its Manchester home to a global clubbing brand with its own Ibiza club. A recent foray to the US proved unsuccessful, with branches in Manhattan and Brooklyn closing in 2014.
