  • Ableton's latest release is a book. Titled Making Music—74 Creative Strategies For Electronic Music Producers, the company behind Live's first foray into the publishing game is by Dennis DeSantis, a veteran composer and electronic producer who's released through labels like Kanzleramt and Third Ear. As the title suggests, it delves into issues that producers tend to encounter in the studio and possible ways of working through them. Chapter titles include "Arranging As A Subtractive Process, "Three Ways To End," "Listening To Music You Hate" and "Write Drunk; Edit Sober." The company promises that Making Music isn't Live-centric—we're told that Ableton products don't feature once in the text, and it was written as "an aid for anyone who makes music with computers, using any software or hardware." You can preview much of the book's content now on the just-launched Making Music website. Making Music—74 Creative Strategies For Electronic Music Producers is now available from Ableton for a suggested retail price of $30.
