  • Paxahau has announced 67 new acts to perform at Movement Electronic Music Festival 2015, taking place in Hart Plaza over Memorial Day Weekend, May 23rd through 25th. The second announcement brings the total number of acts at this year's Movement to 141, the most the festival has ever fielded. Detroit artists figure heavily in the additional wave. Movement 2010 headliners Model 500 return to the main stage on the heels of the latest album from the Juan Atkins-fronted project. Underground Resistance leader Mike Banks had a hand in the production of that record, and he'll join previously announced act Carl Craig for a live performance fitting into Craig's Detroit Love concept. In addition to Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May have been booked for a back-to-back set, making for full Belleville Three representation. Other Motor City representatives include Octave One, Jay Daniel, Urban Tribe, Kenny Larkin, Eddie Fowlkes, Terrence Parker, Waajeed, Sludge artist Marshall Applewhite and Jimmy Edgar, who will play live with Machinedrum as JETS. Local crews and labels are also well represented at the festival. The Detroit branch of Konkrete Jungle will program a full day of drum & bass from locals such as Dilemma and Sinistarr. Detroit Techno Militia will also perform. DJ Seoul, DJ Psycho and T.Linder will jam a three-way DJ set, with affiliated Pittsburgh producer Shawn Rudiman booked for a live performance. Movement, which cracked previous records with 107,000 in attendance last year, has also announced Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man and Warp Records artist Hudson Mohawke, who join previously announced arena-sized acts like Disclosure, Richie Hawtin, Dog Blood (AKA, Boys Noize and Skrillex) and DJ Snoopadelic (Snoop Dogg). Warp legend Squarepusher will play a live set and that label's long-running dance rock band !!! (Chk Chk Chk) has also made the bill. Paul Woolford and Joy Orbison bring the UK sound to the D and the outdoor environment should work for Lee Foss and Maceo Plex, who will hold down the Hot Creations and Crosstown Rebels milieu. Other highlights include Kerri Chandler, Phuture, Josh Wink and Rick Wilhite. You can find full details in the event listing below.
