  • Native Instrument's latest Traktor controller is the Kontrol D2. We've known for almost two weeks that the Berlin-based music tech company had something new up their sleeves—they had a pair of the new controllers installed in the DJ booth at an event live-streamed from WMC in Miami. NI has now officially announced the device, and the press release mostly confirms the feature set that had already been reported. The Kontrol D2 features a number of pads, faders and knobs aimed at browsing through tracks, triggering cue points and engaging various performance and remix features, with a multicolor display guiding things along. Each device can control two decks within Traktor, but you can bring a second Kontrol D2 into the mix by way of USB ports that allow for daisy-chaining. Not surprising given NI's other big WMC announcement, the new controller will be fully integrated with the Stems audio format once it's released this summer. You can check out a "road test" of the controller from what appears to be Berlin's Tresor club in the video embedded below.
Native Instruments will release the Traktor Kontrol D2 on May 4th, 2015, for a suggested retail price of $499.
