  • Ken Camden of Implodes will drop a new full-length called Dream Memory on June 15th. Camden moonlights as the guitarist for Implodes, an experimental rock band that has released two albums on American institution Kranky in the last few years. He's had a few records of his own come out on the label as well—namely 2010's Lethargy & Repercussions and 2013's Space Mirror. As with Camden's other work, Dream Memory centres around the sound of his electric guitar, using "a steel slide and e-bow technique... to bridge the textural gap between guitar and synthesizer," according to the press release. The LP also makes heavy use of an "organic vocal sampling machine" called the Vocaltron—like a Mellotron for voices—which organizes vocal samples chromatically in order to keep the "original characteristics" of the vocalists (in this case Emily Elhaj from Implodes and Asheville singer Angel Olson).
