  • Shigeto's new jazz group High Risk will drop their debut album on June 23rd. High Risk came about last year at a Red Bull showcase featuring improvisational showcases, where Ghostly signing Shigeto performed with jazz mainstay (and John Zorn associate) Dave Douglas. The two hit it off, eventually forming the quartet with bassist Jonathan Maron and drummer Mark Guiliana. Their self-titled album will come via Douglas's Greenleaf Music imprint, who say that the album is "all composed... and all improvised. "This is completely different from the processes that go on in my other bands," Douglas says. "And at the same time it’s totally the same: a bunch of highly skilled individuals who bring themselves and their personality and their skills to the table, to attack these ideas and materials that I bring into the session.” You can stream the title track below, and watch a video about the record here.
