kinkRA Exclusive: Born out of a desire to bring something new and exciting to the global club scene ‘kink’ is poised to launch across Australia and Asia in the coming months. The following Kink press release explains in detail what the new clubbing brand will provide:

"kink aspires to paint a lively, energetic picture of all that is good in today’s club scene by combining some of worlds finest DJ’s (both International and local) with the best venues and the friendliest most up for it crowds around the Globe.

The team behind kink believes that the Australian club scene is incredibly rich in talent and ability and deserves a stronger international presence. Through there kink parties, they aim to push Australian DJ’s both internationally and nationally and help them to get the recognition they deserve as at the moment these DJ’s are rarely given the opportunity to play Interstate let along Internationally.

Starting off with a monthly residency at the ArtHouse in Sydney, kink will be hosting regular tour nights in Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Perth featuring strong local line-ups supporting an International guest each month.

Bookings in East Asia are also currently being organized and are set to cover Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Ko Samui, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Vietnam, Jakarta and Manila.

The Internationals DJ’s scheduled for 2003 highlight ‘kink’s’ innovative music policy and highlights there commitment to bringing something new to the Australian club scene. As well as bringing out some familiar faces, this year will also see them bringing out Internationals who have never toured Australia before.

kink’s music policy cannot be pigeon holed into any one genre and will range from funky house through to tribal, tech and breaks depending on the Internationals touring and the number of rooms available in the venues they use. By taking this approach kink strives to remain fresh and at the forefront of the dance scene."
There is much more Kink info to come, so keep your eyes peeled and expect an April Kink launch at the Arthouse in Sydney.

Mon, 17 Mar 2003sorry if i offended you john, all i was doing was sharing my opinion. i personally don't think any of the house sub genres have done anything too innovative in the past 5 years (progressive, deep and funky included). EDIT: just to clarify, i'm not having a go at skillset of deep / progressive DJ's, more at the production work as of late.

Sun, 16 Mar 2003Intrepid - Let me assure you DJ Fierce is the real deal and his downstairs lunchbox is massive on any scale. He is all man and if you haven't heard of him you must have been living under a rock...... on Oxford St ..... or Darlinghurst.
