  • The latest mixer from Pioneer DJ is the DJM-S9. Though the price you'll pay for two channels may initially catch you off-guard, a further look at the feature set shows that the mixer is geared toward scratch DJs, and it boasts a load of high-end features aimed at them. (In a teaser video released earlier this week, a then-unnamed DJ Jazzy Jeff called it "the 909 on super steroids.") It's set up to run with Serato DJ and has two onboard soundcards, so you can swap computers between sets without an awkward transition or play a back-to-back with two machines plugged in. Each channel has eight multicolor touch pads for controlling Hot Cues, effects or whatever other functions you map to it within Serato. There are also six dedicated Beat FX buttons, an OEL display to show you what's engaged within the mixer and a DJM-style filter (which can be swapped out for other filter types on your computer). Scratch DJs will also appreciate the mic input and highly adjustable Magvel Fader Pro magnetic crossfader. The mixer's audio circuitry comes from the DJM-2000NXS. It comes in black or gold, the latter of which should match nicely with the limited-edition gold PLX-1000 turntable you'll find teased in the video below.
Pioneer DJ will release the DJM-S9 in October 2015 for a suggested retail price of €1,799.
