We're shocked to recieve this news so we're just going to copy and paste the words of the Fokus crew. Big ups, thanks for the memories, this brand will be missed!
The words from the Fokus crew, Mike Callander and Luke Rivett (Fokus Productions), read as follows: "Well, this is it. The Final Fokus will take place at the Prince of Wales on Friday April 11. We have decided to call it a night after that, and we are determined to step out in style with a awesome show at one of our favourite venues.
Why must we say goodbye? Well, with half of the Fokus crew (Luke and Sophia) moving to New York indefinitely, we thought it was time to put this baby to bed and undertake some new and different projects. After two years of slugging away in the war against crap music, we are satisfied with our positive contribution to Melbourne Tekno, and we hope that our efforts have made a positive impact.
While the serious and genuine need for quality tekno remains, we believe it should take on a new and different form, and that our concept has run its course. It is time for the Melbourne Tekno community to reinvent itself and collaborate as best it can in an effort to re-ignite the passion that people once had for this inspiring form of artistic expression, and as such the Fokus brand carries less importance than we believe it did when we began. We still have future plans for a label, and some artist tours in the pipeline throughout Australia and New Zealand, but for now, it is time for Fokus to say goodbye.
So now, we’d like to step out in style, and at the same time say a HUGE thanks to our most loyal supporters and contributors! So, we invite you to join us for one last bash, this time at the Prince of Wales, as we serve up another night of slammin’ synthetic funk and jackin’ tek and say thanks to all those who have supported us! We’d love to hear from you if you can help us give the last Fokus show an extra push, or if you’d simply like to say “sayonara”.
