- The Stems-ready Kontrol S5 lands in October.
The Kontrol S5 is Native Instruments' latest Traktor controller.
Like the larger Kontrol S8, the S5 is an all-in-one controller, with a mixer section flanked by left and right deck sections. The mixer has four channels, each with EQ and filter sections and effects assignments. Each deck looks like a streamlined version of what's on the S8 and D2, scrapping the four faders but keeping the eight color-coded pads and the display. Those displays are optimized to show Stems, NI's much-touted new multichannel audio format, presenting them as four color-coded, stacked waveforms.
The S5 also boasts a built-in 24-bit/48-kHz audio interface, Remix Deck functionality, an aux channel for mic or mp3 player input and a build meant to withstand the rigors of touring. You can see it in action and check out the full feature set in the video embedded below.
Native Instruments will release the Traktor Kontrol S5 in October 2015 for a suggested retail price of $799.
