- The seapunk originator will drop his third full-length in November.
Ultrademon will release his next album, Durian Rider, via Coral Records Internazionale this November 27th.
Ultrademon is the project of Chicago producer Albert Redwine, who along with Zombelle, invented the internet-rooted genre seapunk. In 2012, Redwine was given his own Rephlex sublabel, Fire For Effect, on which he issued his 2013 debut Seapunk, an album which attempted to define the odd art and music movement.
Last year, Redwine released Voidic Charms, a record RA's Andrew Ryce said possessed a "frenetic charm... [which] looks back to the appeal of early seapunk…, even as it shies away from overt references to the movement." On the new one, Redwine says he aims to evoke "dark nights, dusky maidens, future raves, full moon beach parties, desert stars, vine hung horizons, industrial wastelands, cyberspace DJs, mecha demon magic, ethnobotanical basslines, dark crystal messiahs, teen anime love stories, stinging auras, fungal fantasy house, nautical elves and voidic charms." Last year, Ryce spoke with Redwine on life after seapunk—check out the feature here.
