- Meakusma will release Hackford's second full-length in November.
Bryce Hackford will issue his new album Behind via Meakusma on November 9th.
Though Hackford hasn't put out a full-length since 2013's Fair, he recently contributed a remix of Georgia for the Like Comment EP (also on Meakusma) and reworked the entirety of Delia Gonzalez's last full-length for DFA. Just like the latter, Behind was inspired by a collaboration with a modern dance company. Hackford made field recordings which form the backbone of Behind while completing a residency with the Brittany Bailey Dance Company at Watermill Center in New York.
He applies experimental methods to dance music and provides the following statement on the new record: "The avant garde impulse in experimental music has been about a push to be at the front of technology race and popular narrative. I am interested in a different position, one that privileges slowness, transitions, and strong relationships."
